    Kids, drugs, and Nickelodeon

Sooooo, among the joys of fatherhood, I have recently come across a show that my daughter watches a lot and enjoys.  I must say that in its own weird way  - it does have some positive messages.  The only thing that bothers me is the fact that 70% of the people who watch this have to be adults that are high on some seriously mind-altering drugs.  The show is perfectly designed for people on drugs to be mesmerized.  Now I am in now way, shape, or form a drug-user, but I know an acid-trip on TV when I see one and believe me folks its on the Nick, Jr. channel. I have posted a link below to give you a taste of what I am talking about.  The show is called Yo Gabba Gabba and its basically about a skinny-black guy with an orange afro who carries a special boombox with him.  Inside that boombox he has these 5 ( might be 6 - whatever) characters that come to life and start their semi-ghettorific acid trip. I do approve the heavy usage of NES game power-up sounds.  In case you were wondering, the link is work safe ( though your co-workers will be convinced that your a pot-head).

Nobody else thinks that this pothead show disguised as a kids program is interesting/humorous/retarded/boring/etc?

Lybarger, you probably watch this show everyday.

Ok, so I know what your talking about but that's one of the ones I try to keep Maria from watching.  I just try to keep the dumbest ones away.  Of course she found The Wiggles on her own.  Angry

That green thing looks like it would fit into a show from the 70's,  I can't remember the name though.

Wow... I kind of like it. Kids love color and movement most of all. The monster owes a lot to Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. When our kids were little we had TeleTubbies.  Good thing Jerry Falwell isn't alive to see this though I can only imagine what he's think of the orgy in the tummySmile   The whole "down to the stomach" sequence is part Dali painting, part Alice in Wonderland, part "Go Ask Alice" and part Pinocho in the belly of the whale.

I can't view it here at work, but it sounds like another one I saw once on ch. 9.  I think it was called Boobah and looked like one big acid trip.  I recall it as people in strange costumes, dancing about with all kinds of psychedelic colors flashing around and speaking jibberish.

    Re: Kids, drugs, and Nickelodeon

Since this thread started I have made it a point to watch the show with my daughter Gracie.  Gracie is pretty fascinated by the show.  We have watched 4 or 5 episodes.  A couple questions though...

    1. Has anyone else noticed that Muno, the tall, slender, one-eyed monster.. is also ribbed?  (for her pleasure?)

    2. Who is the White frowning Muno-like monster that appears from time to time.  This guy isn't ribbed, but he is always frowning.  And he shows up at weird times, and they never really address why he is frowning.  It is kind of disturbing.

James, you are a sick and perverted individual.  Thank god I don't think along those lines and live a politically correct lifestyle.  I am deeply disappointed and disturbed by your comments - I really thought better of you.

P.S. On a more serious note, I wish that I shared that similar trait with Muno, I bet he's pretty popular with Foofa.  I have not seen the white Muno.

According to an insider, the name of the "white Muno" is Gooble.  Gooble is always crying and very sensitive.  Look for him in the Love / St. Valentine's Day episode.  He is in almost every other episode but only for a moment so you have to keep your eye out for him.
